Diagnostics

Three tabs under Operate (role Development) help to find problems.

Slow queries

Operate > Slow queries lists database commands that took longer than the configured threshold. The header shows the number of entries; a switch Live is next to it. The filters are Command, Min duration (ms), Time window (for example Last hour), Group similar and Auto refresh (30s). The columns are Time, Command, Collection, Duration, Status, Fingerprint and Request, with Details and a BSON view of the request. The buffer holds entries since the start of the service and is emptied on every restart; without entries the page says "No slow queries captured yet."

The BSON view and the query plan never show credentials: values of passwords, password hashes, security stamps, user tokens, client secrets, OAuth token payloads, session tickets and keys, persisted grant data, Data Protection keys and of every attribute the data model marks as hidden, security-sensitive or secret appear as ***. The field names stay, so the shape of the command can still be read.

Index usage

Operate > Index usage shows how often the database indexes were used, to find indexes that cost more than they bring. The filters are Min age (days), Low-usage threshold (ops) and Include Used / Builtin; the columns are Status, Collection, Index, Ops, Age (d), Observed since and Drop command. The drop commands are shown for copy-paste into the MongoDB shell; nothing is executed automatically, review them carefully. The counters reset when the database restarts; an index younger than the minimum age counts as used.

With Include Used / Builtin switched on, the list also shows the indexes that are in use and the built-in indexes:

User diagnostics

Operate > User diagnostics shows your own sign-in: the user name, how long the access token is still valid, and the tabs Access token, ID token and Refresh tokens with their claims (issuer, tenant, roles, scopes). Use it to see which roles the Studio really received. The raw token can be copied; treat it as a secret and never paste it into tickets or chats.
